Focus Collaborative Meetings
This year, CCAoNH powered by Southern New Hampshire Services is offering Virtual Early Childhood Focus Collaborative Meetings for Directors, Administrators, Teachers and other Early Childhood Professionals. These Meetings are group-driven to reflect the participant’s needs and interests and to provide participants with information around the focused topics. In addition, participants will learn about Child Care Aware of NH program updates, essential local and State information along with other professional development opportunities.

Early Childhood Collaborative:
Infant & Toddler Programming and Curriculum
Date: Tuesday, October 6, 2020

Facilitators: Meg Atwood, ECMPWT and Bekah Kistler, ECMPWT 
Topic: This month, participants will partake in a Purposeful Planning Learn & Share session. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about Early Learning Standards, Emergent Curriculum and how to be intentional with their own professional development planning. During this meeting, participants are asked to bring a resource to share with other participants to take back to their programs. Examples may include: curriculum ideas and professional development plans.

Topic: This month, Janis Lilly, M. Ed, will be joining us. Janis will be presenting part 1 of a 2 part training on Working Well with Co-Parents and Parallel Parents. Join us for a discussion about the differences between co-parenting and parallel parenting; with tips and tricks for your professional toolbox, so you can help families keep the children in the center of the picture.

Facilitators: Connie Davis, ECMPWT and Donna Lake, ECMPWT 
Topic: This month, Stephanie Therrien, State Lead Pyramid Model Coordinator from SNHS, Child Care Aware of New Hampshire will be joining us. Stephanie will be sharing information about the Pyramid Model framework. Studies of Pyramid Model implementation in programs show an increase in children's social skills and a decrease in challenging behaviors.

Topic: This month, participants will partake in an Interview Questions and Procedures Learn & Share session. During this meeting, participants are asked to bring a resource to share with other participants to take back to their programs. Examples may include: a list of interview questions, your scheduling methods or your procedures on how to offer a position.

Topic: This month, Krisha Dubreuil, Program Specialist at the Bureau of Child Development and Head Start Collaboration will be joining us. Krisha will be speaking about the New Hampshire Child Care Search Portal and answering our questions will provide updates and future plans on the NH Connections Information Session.

Topic: This month, participants will partake in a Purposeful Planning Learn & Share session. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about Art & Sensory in Curriculum and how to be intentional with their classroom planning. During this meeting, participants are asked to bring a resource to share with other participants to take back to their programs. Examples may include: how you incorporate sensory in your classroom, different and/or fun open-ended art activities or curriculum plans to support development in these areas.

Topic: This month, we will examine how our own social-emotional competence and pedagogical skills influence classroom and school climate as well as student behavior. We will learn about the specific teacher behaviors that promote secure teacher-child relationships and how you can express warmth to all children, even when your buttons get pushed.

With a Montessori Perspective

Topic: This month, Melony Williams, LCMHC, Clinical Supervisor for TLC Resource Center, will be providing the training: How Children Process Grief through Play. This will be followed by a participants’ discussion on how this relates to Montessori classrooms.

Topic: This month, Barbara Ross, Director of the Family Connections Resource Center, from Children’s Unlimited in Conway and Jen Buteau, Family Support Programs Director, from The Family Resource Center in Gorham, will be joining us.  Barbara and Jen will be sharing information about their programs with us, how they can helps support providers and families in northern New Hampshire as well as answer any questions you may have about their services.
