Jerry Wolf began unhooking sinks, appliances, and tabletops so that it was ready for volunteers to come on the cold, snowy day, January 16, to take EVERYTHING out of the kitchen. We moved items into three areas to be stored without a great deal of disruption to gathering spaces in the lodge. We appreciated everyone who came to help as Disciples Together. We could have never done it without you!
Plumbers had run cameras down the drains and confirmed that three of five drains had failed after all these 50 plus years. The old drains have to be replaced before we can continue with replacing the flooring. Asbestos testing now shows that we have issues which we are evaluating. We are determining the next steps to safely remove the old tiles so that work can proceed.
New LED lights have been installed in the kitchen. A plan is made to reestablish appliances and work spaces, providing adequate and appropriate storage as well. We plan to divide the back dock area to provide additional clean food storage pantry.
We expect to be able to use our existing stove, convection oven, and steamer. We hope to add an additional convection oven and stack it with the one we have. In addition to the floor expense, the other big-ticket item will be the 12' range hood with heated fresh air input and fire suppression.
