Until We Meet Again

When you read this, my 7+ years as the CCC Camp Director and Associate Regional Minister will be concluded. I wanted to take a minute to say thank you for all the time we've shared together on Holy Ground. I've been thinking about the good days, the bad days, and all the days in between since our family came here in 2016.

It seems like the harder days always involve the well, the pool, or the lagoon. The great days are ones that will be with me forever. The time our daughter convinced an entire CYF camp to play Ring Around the Rosie with her. The time Papa Bob taught our son to drive the tractor. The day each spring when Jerry and Linda's camper showed up and it felt like summer was really here. Reconnecting with friends from my camper or intern days, and ministering to their children. Campers playing in Wolf Lake for the first time. Welcoming new groups to Holy Ground and becoming their camp, too. Great days.

There were so many days in between, sharing life with all of you. Working on maintenance projects. Swimming in the pool. Worship or Vespers around our campfire rings. Hiking our trails (a favorite of mine). Reminiscing about the beginnings of this special place and dreaming about its future. Eating lunch and laughing with our amazing staff. Living life together. Serving God and following Jesus together. I am grateful for every day spent here with you.

Thank you for living life with us, for loving my family, and allowing me to love yours. Thank you for the chance to serve the place and the people who have given me so much. It has truly been an honor.

The Christian Conference Center and our wonderful volunteers have been hard at work preparing the grounds for the arrival of summer campers. It's not too late to register for a session! Options range for all ages including Grandcamp, Elementary, Middle School, and High School camps, and even a Senior Adult Retreat. The CYF Mission Trip is a brand new offering this year and provides an opportunity for high schoolers to serve another community alongside friends from across the region. Meet the Summer Interns

Hi everyone! My name is Olivia Corey, and I’m from Des Moines, Iowa. I’m going into my junior year at Drake University and majoring in Psychology and English. I plan to go to grad school to become a therapist or work and see where the Lord takes me. I enjoy running outside, hanging out with friends, and taking care of my plants. This summer, I am excited to be with everyone and emerge myself with God and community.

Hey everyone! My name is Zoe Helmke, and I will be a junior at the University of Northern Iowa, where I am studying elementary education and Spanish. My home church is Ankeny Christian Church, where I was involved with the youth group from middle school through high school. I started going to camp when I was four-years-old with my grandparents, and I haven’t stopped since. I am so excited to spend my whole summer on holy ground! Outside of school, I enjoy getting coffee and thrifting with my friends. I also like to paint and do other creative things. I have two dogs and a cat that I love to spend time with too. My family likes to do outdoorsy things, like camping and kayaking in the summers. I love the Christian Conference Center. I am so excited to be on the summer staff along with the rest of the amazing team! I can’t wait to see what this summer brings us!

My name is Hannah Maisberger! I am from Mckinney, TX, and my home church is First Christian Church Mckinney. In the Fall, I will be a junior at Texas Tech University majoring in elementary education. Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, going to country music concerts, and being involved in my sorority. I am SO excited to spend the summer at the Christian Conference Center! I am looking forward to learning everything about the CCC, getting a chance to lead others, and growing in my faith.

Summer Camp registration opens February 15th! Publicity will be mailed to churches late next week. Watch your email for more information. There are two new camps being offered this summer: an Adventure session to Colorado, and a Mission Camp for high schoolers.
