CCCA Exciting Fall Session Workshops & Classes + News & Updates + Arts Advocacy!

Dear Friends:

We hope you had a great summer, and are off to a safe, strong, healthy, and bright start to the fall!!!

August was a wonderful month at the CCCA:
Rosalita's Puppets' Magical Puppet Encounters were a big hit with kids and families! We'll be scheduling more dates very soon, including a puppet making and puppeteering workshop.
Margaux Skalecki & Ukumbwa Sauti's workshops were well attended and appreciated, and we've scheduled additional sessions for September and November (read newsletter Section 1 for details)!
CCCA hosted (onsite) a private family line dance lesson by Raul Nieves, and today, as we speak, we are hosting an innovative music video shoot, featuring local artists, harp music, puppeteering, and poetry!
We welcome you to bring forth your ideas for classes, workshops, socially distant gatherings, rehearsals, photo and video shoots, livestream broadcasts, and private lessons, and we'll help you produce them online or onsite, while adhering to safety guidelines, which we've found have resulted in creativity and innovation.

Important Website Updates:
In preparation for the our Fall 2020 session, we are very happy to announce that we've completed upgrading both of our websites to https, so every page and transaction is now fully secure, in addition to our prior-existing layers of encryption. We have also greatly improved the class, event, and workshop info and registration pages layout, styles, and flow, and made important updates to further clarify and simplify our registration system, as we continue to work towards our major platform update! For further security and student experience, completed registrations will receive an order confirmation E-Mail and a second E-Mail that will include detailed directions on how to attend and the private password-protected Zoom info for the offering you choose -- This means that no one outside those who register and the instructors/producers, will have access to the Zoom info, and you'll be able to better understand the logistics and flow of each class, workshop, and event, to further ensure a good experience for all participants!

Fall 2020 Session Begins:
We invite you to join us on September 13th for the start of our Fall session, which will offer programs for all ages and abilities in a diverse array of arts and culture! Read newsletter Section 1 for special workshop and class highlights, scroll to Section 3 for a complete listing, and stay tuned via our home page, online schedule, and Instagram, for many more great offerings!!

Important Advocacy Call to Action:
Thank you again to everyone who attended BioMed Realty's February 27th arts center plans unveiling — read more about their proposal in these two articles: Feb. 18th & Feb. 27th!
Now that the City's Planning Board has re-commenced reviewing building proposals, BioMed is scheduled for a September 15th online meeting, where you'll have the opportunity to voice your support, ask questions, and make comments. BioMed has been sponsoring us year-long, rent- and utilities-free, with their wonderful facility at Canal District Kendall to house our arts and community programming, and their building proposal features a fully funded and permanent arts center, among many other community features. We hope some of you are able to attend on September 15th, to help ensure the creation of this important cultural institution! (Read newsletter Section 2 for more details.)

Section 2: Sept. 15th Cambridge Planning Board Meeting!
A message from Vice President of Development, Sal Zinno:
I hope you are continuing to stay safe and healthy as we all work to overcome the COVID-19 crisis. Although I and others on the BioMed Realty team have been unable to organize in-person meetings, we have worked hard to stay connected and keep the community up to speed on the status of 585 Third Street as we wait for the city to resume its zoning process. I’m excited to share with you today a major announcement on that front.

The Cambridge Planning Board has restarted its meeting schedule, and our zoning petition for 585 Third Street — a necessary step to make this project a reality — is scheduled to be discussed at its next meeting on September 15 at 6:30 PM. We are excited to finally present our vision for this project to city officials and begin the formal permitting and rezoning process, and we hope you are as well. The meeting will be held by video conference, and we encourage you to virtually attend via this link and express your support during the public comment period. Your advocacy- whether it’s via a letter, email, or speaking at this upcoming hearing- will make a difference in determining if we can relocate the gas transfer station and bring this arts and culture center to Kendall. I appreciate everything you have and will continue to do to show your support.

Thank you again,

Sal Zinno
We wish you many continued and increased blessings and happiness, and look forward to seeing you this Fall session!

Best Regards & Wishes,
