It is my honor to serve as your 2022-23 President and serve alongside a dedicated group of local elected officials who make up the California Contract Cities Association (CCCA) Executive Board. As the first half of my term comes to an end, I am reminded of the great accomplishments we achieved in 2022, but am aware that there is still much to be done in 2023.
With every new year, we look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead. Your Executive Board is committed to advocating on behalf of local control at all levels of government. CCCA will continue to take the lead by supporting or opposing legislation that would affect the communities we represent.
Our Legislative Committee is hard at work preparing for our Los Angeles County Local Advocacy Day planned for mid-March. This event will allow us to learn about local priorities and have an opportunity to share the Contract Cities platform. We have a continued focus on local control with an emphasis on housing and mental health.
I encourage you to stay engaged with CCCA through our monthly Board of Directors meetings and social media. Your participation is essential to our advocacy and programming. As my motto for my terms says: there is Strength Through Collaboration!
As I end my message and on behalf of the entire California Contract Cities Association, we express our condolences and support to the residents of our member city of Monterey Park and the victims of the horrific fatal incident that happened there on January 21, 2023.
