SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 2025
11:30 A.M. - 2:30 P.M.
OAK HILL PARK COMMUNITY CENTER BALLROOM, DANVILLE
This year's program Eugene O’Neill: His Life in Contra Costa County, presented by the National Historic Site staff located at the Tao House in Danville, will delve into the life of playwright Eugene O'Neill during the time he resided at Tao House in Contra Costa County.
O'Neill, one of America's greatest playwrights, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1936. The Nobel brought increased attention and demands on O'Neill, and despite the accolades, his primary desire was to find the time and solitude necessary to continue his writing while health permitted. The creation of Tao House, his sanctuary in Danville, and the unwavering protectiveness of his wife, Carlotta Monterey, provided the environment he needed to focus on his work.
Join us January 25th to hear more about this intriguing man and his life at Tao House.
