Dear Colleagues,
As the school year draws to a close, we celebrate achievements, growth and perseverance of our students, educators and families. Whether it’s a graduation, a promotion or the completion of another year of learning, I want to thank you for your dedication, creativity and resilience throughout the year.
June is Pride Month—a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to creating inclusive, safe and supportive environments for all students and staff. On June 19th, we also commemorate Juneteenth, a pivotal day in American history when slaves in Texas heard word of the official end of slavery in the United States. Both observances offer meaningful opportunities to uplift voices, share stories of culture and resilience, and strengthen a culture of respect and belonging in our school communities.
Although summer has arrived, the professional development opportunities and workshops across multiple subject areas continue. Below you will find numerous sessions led by experienced facilitators and thoughtfully designed to provide practical, classroom-relevant insights for educators. I encourage you to explore the offerings and share them with colleagues who might be interested, as well.
Thank you for being part of our vibrant educational community. We look forward to continuing this journey together—with pride, purpose, and unity.
In partnership,
Lynn Mackey
Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools
