STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S WITHDRAWAL



President Joe Biden led America through a global pandemic and a treasonous attack on our democracy, while regaining respect amongst our international allies, and did it all with compassion, dignity, honor, and respect for the office. 

The accomplishments speak for themselves: record job creation, doubling the number of Black business owners, infrastructure and Inflation Reduction Acts that continue to change the landscape and future of our country for the better. In addition, he was the first president to join a picket line, capped Medicare and insulin costs for the first time, honored our servicemembers and veterans alike—unlike his predecessor—canceled student debt, appointed the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, and ended an unnecessary war in Afghanistan. He’s also stood up for women’s reproductive rights at a perilous time. His record is unmatched and will stand the test of history while serving as a beacon for future Democratic candidates.

We echo the respect and admiration President Biden has voiced for Vice President Kamala Harris today. She is ready and able and will be a tremendous defender of Democratic causes if she is our nominee. Please do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

The time for a frank discussion about the media’s complicity in the double standard and ageism at play throughout this process, and for the past eight years, will come soon.

But for now, today is a tough day for those of us who respect President Biden and admire his record in office, yet we know our future is brighter because of him. Thank you again Mr. President. We are sincerely grateful for a job very well done.
