STATEMENT ON THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS RECOMMENDATION

Congratulations to former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Melody Stewart on her victory today for the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party’s (CCDP) recommendation to represent us on the county’s Board of Elections. Justice Stewart is a woman of impeccable credentials and legal expertise, and her victory of 300-168 votes showed the deep faith Democrats have in her abilities.

Her comprehensive knowledge of election law will serve our county incredibly well. I have no doubt whatsoever that she will defend Democratic constituencies with intelligence and zeal.

I also want to thank Chris Nance for participating in this process. Like Justice Stewart, I have a great deal of respect for him as a person and his commitment to Democratic ideals and the fundamentally American right to vote.

Now, the CCDP can renew its focus on opposing Republican polices and overreach, defending the common American, and getting more people involved in voting and resistance.
