CCDS Spring Clinic: May 2,3

Happy Easter Everyone!

The warmer weather is slowly gearing up as the snowbanks are all but melted away. We hope everyone is beginning to enjoy some spring training with their equines while they scrape and scrape away the winter's heavy fur coats.

Our March meeting was a vibrant gathering, showcasing the welcoming community spirit that defines our organization. The enthusiasm and engagement from attendees were palpable as we welcomed Martha Nicoll, who delivered an enriching PowerPoint presentation titled "So Much More Than the Final Score." Tailored to accommodate drivers of all experience levels, Martha expertly guided us through each movement in the Training Level A test, highlighting the key components that judges focus on. Her thorough discussion on the nuances of scoring—from a 2 to a perfect 10—was particularly enlightening, allowing members to grasp the intricacies of performance evaluation. Moreover, Martha's encouraging tips on utilizing scores to craft personal training goals inspired attendees to reflect on their individual journeys toward improvement in their driving skills. The lively Q&A session that followed demonstrated the appreciation we all felt for her expertise, as participants openly shared their questions and challenges.

Additionally, please mark your calendars for the François Bergeron long lining and dressage clinic on May 2nd and 3rd. This clinic is an excellent way to get ready for spring competition. Please RSVP to Maureen maureengamelli2@gmail.com. There are currently two slots open on Saturday. François has agreed to make those two slots available for dressage lessons or long lining whatever is preferable. Sunday’s dressage lessons are already fully booked. The lessons are $125, and auditors are welcome at $65 for the day. Pizza will be provided. We also have one stall available for $25, or $50 if you choose not to clean it.

Regarding our August driving show, we have been able to secure room rates at a substantial 65% discount at The Little Lion in Great Barrington and the Quality Inn in Lee. Please call Ann Willey (518) 392-6583 by May 6 to book these, as they must be reserved soon to secure the discount.

Let’s get ready and drive into Spring! Stay safe, stay well, and I look forward to seeing you many of you at the Spring Clinic.

Best regards,

Maureen Gamelli
