New Volunteer Program Assistant
Hi, I'm Cindy and I'd just like to introduce myself. I am thrilled to be joining CCF as the Volunteer Program Assistant, where I'll be coordinating, training, recognizing and celebrating all of our hard working volunteers. While I have been blessed to serve my community in various ways over the years, I'm excited to coordinate this particular effort. I'm in complete awe of the volunteer stories I have learned thus far in my short time here.

I believe our volunteers have made a tremendous difference in our cause and will continue to be an incredible force for good in the work that lies ahead. This is our first edition newsletter and I'm happy to keep us all informed and connected. Thank you for your time, effort and commitment to CCF - we are better together!

Volunteer of the Month
Each month we will recognize those who contributions inspire us and who demonstrate excellence in their service to others. This award was created to thank those outstanding individuals and to bring to light the immense efforts, time and resources that are generously given to the Foundation.
Our Volunteer of the month award goes to Katie Glenn!

Katie is a current high school teacher in her twelfth year of teaching and lives outside of Chicago, IL. She found a connection to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation just weeks after her father was diagnosed with the disease in 2016 and attended CCF's Annual Conference just shortly after reaching out. She has seen first-hand how terrible this disease is and knows she and so many others are still healing from the heartache. But she has a wonderfully big heart and is tirelessly active in volunteering! She sees the Foundation as a source of hope for the future and passionately engages in the work to make things better for those that are and will be affected by this disease in the future.

She is a runner by hobby and united these two interests into a hugely successful fundraising effort for the Foundation. Katie has been the starting force behind the Team CCF. She began as a Team Captain in the Chicago Marathon with her very first race raising over $25,000! She has since run several other races to benefit the Foundation and organized and planned even more. This year alone she has organized 16 races. Melinda Bachini, our Advocacy Coordinator, adds "she continues to fundraise over and above the Team CCF events and has contributed significantly to CCF. She recently presented a check to Stacie Lindsey, CCF President, for a race she organized at the school where she teaches."

Additionally she works as a volunteer with the CARE Team - a team that works to spread awareness and information to hospitals, clinicians and doctors about the Foundation and how we assist patients and families. Melinda also notes that she gets "to witness Katie respond to other caregiver's questions and comments in online support groups. She always gives great information that only one who has been there could. She is the most kind, compassionate, loving and sincere person I know. I never met her father, but I know without a doubt that he is looking down on her with such love and pride." It is a great honor and privilege to award Katie Glenn our Volunteer of the Month and we wish to express much heartfelt appreciation for giving so much of herself to us! Thank you, Katie!

258 + HOURS
258 + hours of service were logged for June 2018! Over 120 hours of time was collectively donated to the CholangioConnect Mentoring Program alone! Thank you. Patients and their families alike benefit every single day from your efforts!

We want to hear from you. These are the hours we know of, but we're positive not every hour has been accounted for. If you volunteer and have NOT received a monthly survey regarding your projects and time, we want to hear from you! (Please email Cindy and we will make sure you are added to the survey list). And if you ARE getting our survey, please don't forget to reply. We want your hours to count in EVERY way possible!
Hours reported help us in applying for grants that fund our cause!
