2022 Impact Report
2022 was a transformational year for our Foundation, in large part due to the support of the Philadelphia community. We are thrilled to share with you our first Impact Report, which provides an overview of the past year and shares the measured impact of our efforts in West Philadelphia. While we review the past year, we also acknowledge that we have ample opportunities to learn and grow. We are committed to partnering with the local community, listening intently, and showing up authentically.
City Council Approval!
We’re pleased to announce that City Council unanimously approved Bill No. 220918, which is a crucial ordinance allowing us to fully restore and revitalize Cobbs Creek Golf Course! Thank you to all supporters who sent messages to Philadelphia’s councilmembers - they were noted at the meeting and put on the record to demonstrate the public support for this project!
Honoring the Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
We had an amazing day of service with West Philadelphia Academic Charter Elementary School students and their families on Monday January 16th. We packed care packages, organized donated clothing and put-up inspirational decals on spaces around the school. We are grateful for our partnership with this amazing school and their families.
Youth Advisory Board Hosts Creative Praxis
Cobbs Creek Foundation is committed to training our youth volunteers with important topics every month that elevate understanding and impact. To celebrate Black history month, we partnered with an outstanding Black-owned non-profit, Creative Praxis, to provide our youth advisory board with an art-based, healing-centered, joy-filled training. In total, 22 youth advisory board members from eight out-of-area schools had the opportunity to reflect upon their posture as they enter into communities both individually and collectively. We discussed self-reflection questions and larger group questions around core values, biases, and accountability. It was an important and engaging evening for all involved.
The Boys Latin Charter School Internship with CCF
We are excited to welcome six amazing juniors from the Boys Latin Charter School to our educational team for two months. These wonderful and energetic young men will be assisting in our two weekly after-school tutoring programs, our community clean-ups and our Saturday Fun Days in our local elementary schools. We look forward to the spirit and wisdom they will bring to our programming.
Sifford Scholarship OPEN
Charlie Sifford was the first Black player on the PGA TOUR. To honor him, a scholarship has been created to help fund college costs for students who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), or for students focusing their education on a golf management program. Any student who is or will be attending college is eligible to apply. To learn more or apply click here.

The Cobbs Creek Foundation will serve as the fiscal sponsor of the Dr. Charles L. Sifford Scholarship. From its founding in 1916, Cobbs Creek embraced both Black and women golfers and acted as the home course to Charlie Sifford during the time he was a resident of Philadelphia.
