College is a critical time for every student for about a million reasons. When it comes to faith, students are making decisions and asking certain questions on their own for the first time in their lives.
“Will I be a part of a Christian community?”
“Why do I believe what I believe?”
They find that sometimes the truth is hard because it’s not what you’ve always been taught. And sometimes it’s hard because it is. This navigation of old and new can be scary, but we see it as incredibly exciting and bursting with potential.
College students need deep friendships in a Christian community for two main reasons when it comes to faith:
-
To ask questions of faith without threat of judgment. The community needs to be curious, honest, and gracious in ongoing conversations about theological hopes, questions, and doubts.
- To be pushed to take faithfulness seriously. Even as they talk about all the incredible contours of belief, the community needs to be earnest and diligent about actually following the way of Jesus, about being brought fully to life in the image of God.
Since 1977, this is what CCF has been doing for thousands of students, always with this end goal: to cultivate deep roots of discipleship that bear fruit well beyond college years, seeking the kingdom in all their various fields and vocations. This effort, this tradition, and this community continue year after year because of an incredible staff who give their lives to see it flourish.
The students of the present need you, the students of the past, to remember that this community is still here, still vibrant, and still in need of financial partners to keep the work going for years to come.
To the hilt,
Reed
