Message from the President
|
|
|
Fall is upon us, which is an exciting time for CCFC, as we approach the September 30th deadline for grant requests for 2023. Our last three general meetings have included grant recipients from 2022.
We received more in depth information about how our funds were utilized and the vast needs countywide. We had the pleasure of hearing from Scott Blundell from the SLO County Social Services Foster Care Unit in July who also receives our Sunshine Sacks; in August, Millie Tolani enthusiastically shared what it’s like being the Youth Program Coordinator with the SLO Botanical Gardens; and this month, we had the pleasure to hear from
Ann Berry-Gallegos, Executive Director for the Paso Robles

Youth Arts Center, and a former member of CCFC.
Carolyn Klingler arranged a special tour of the ACI Jet facility which was simply fascinating…who knew we have such an amazing company in our own backyard!!! ACI Jet has even teamed with Cuesta College to educate and certify future Aviation Maintenance Technicians.
We also held our Fall social…an opportunity to gather with our spouses & significant others for yummy food, wine and animated conversation!!! Enjoy the festivities that Fall brings with gratitude & thanks as we continue to follow our mission to provide a hopeful pathway for children in need in San Luis Obispo County.

Dear CCFC Members,
I just wanted to take a minute to thank each of you for what you do for an underserved portion of our community. The time you all take to participate in the donations to our local foster/adopt children is truly inspiring and humbling. We at Child Welfare Services are touched by your generosity and your persistence in ensuring that our kiddos have the simple things they need. It is not lost on us the amount of time and energy required to put together such thoughtful donation packages and we want to thank all of you for helping us to help our youth in care. Along with the ever popular Sunshine Sacks, your last donation included school supplies (among other items like bottles and wipes, etc…) that helped us to distribute almost 200 fully stocked backpacks to kids. Being able to sport a brand new school backpack with all the school supplies inside means so much to them, and to those who serve them.

The Center hosts 43 classes each week in dance, theater, arts music and culinary arts, taught by 20 professionally trained teachers. There is no charge to the 227 children who attend weekly. The Center holds five eight-week sessions per year.

Oh, the Places You'll Go!
|
|
CCFC members (and a few husbands!) toured the ACI Jet Center at the SLO County Regional Airport. The "Showroom" hangar's private jets were as shiny as a new car! ACI services include private jet charters complete with catering services and providing linens, fueling stations, aircraft maintenance, hangar space, and much more.
