Our recent “Making a Difference” annual Open Meeting and Supporter Luncheon was so inspiring!!! The CCFC members, Trustees, and supporters heard the heartwarming stories from the majority of our 31 grant recipients on how they used the grant monies. The children throughout San Luis Obispo County received everything from shoes, clothing, car seats, food, music and theatre experiences to counseling, mental health and dental care. and collaborate on the needs of our children
and how we can all work together this year and beyond, is why CCFC does what we do…can’t wait for next year’s luncheon. Also, look for CCFC at Children’s Day in the Plaza on April 8th and the Morro Bay Kite Festival on April 29th…come make a necklace with Fruit Loops or decorate and fly a kite!!! Thanks to all for your continued support of CCFC and “Making a Difference” in a SLO County child’s life.

CCFC Grant Recipients attended the Supporter Luncheon where they shared how grant funds were used.

Each March, CCFC hosts its annual Supporter Luncheon and Open Meeting. As attendees shared how CCFC grant funds were utilized, the words kindness, heartfelt, important, needed, grateful, well-rounded child, the whole child, and thank you, were heard again and again. The following are just a few examples of how CCFC grants monies brought a rainbow to children's clouds. Orchestra Novo used funds from CCFC to sponsor a sold-out children's concert at Cuesta College, Fly Me to the Moon. Classical music paired with images from the Hubbel Telescope encouraged children to use their imaginations. Transitions Mental Health Association provides

equine psychotherapy to foster youth who are unable to be successful in homes. 83 sessions for five students used the connection between people and horses as a therapeutic tool. Atascadero Loaves and Fishes uses the CCFC grant funds to address food insecurity in children. Thus far in 2023, fresh, healthy food has been provided to 676 children. Of the 3,000 clients served by Loaves and Fishes, approximately one third of those are children. Pregnancy and Parenting Support purchased 75 car seats for families in need and correctly installed them. Thank you to chairpersons, Marilyn Blake and Bonnie Kennedy for organizing this touching and gratifying event.

In February, social activities chairperson, Carolyn Klingler, arranged for interested CCFC members to attend a glass fusion class taught by local artist, Sheri Klein. Fused glass means the process of shaping hot glass. To create a piece of art, glass pieces of different sizes and shapes are layered on a base piece. Sheri then heats each piece at temperatures between 600 -1000 degrees in a kiln. The high temperatures soften the layers of glass and they blend together, resulting in unique and beautiful looks. Our finished products were on display at our last meeting.
