Happy 2024!
I am pleased to be the newly elected leader of Central Coast Funds for Children, a small, but mighty, group of women who live in San Luis Obispo County. I moved to San Luis Obispo from La Canada Flintridge in 2016 and immediately met friends who invited me to be a member of CCFC. I quickly found a perfect fit with this amazing group of women and set to work to help improve the lives of children in our county.
This past year, CCFC was able to distribute an all-time high of

$104,500 to 38 organizations, for a total of $2,067,165 in grants since 1994! We could not have achieved this milestone without the help of our supporters (listed in this newsletter) and the hard work of our members. That being said, if you or someone you know, has an interest in learning more about our organization, please reach out to me or a CCFC member.
Wishing you and yours a healthy and prosperous New Year!
Christy Palmer

Longtime CCFC member, Patti Hempenius, was honored for her 25 years as an active member of CCFC. She was presented with a crystal "gift box," representative of the time Patti and many current trustees volunteered at the Gift Box in French Hospital, prior to the establishment of CCFC. Patti was also presented with a memory book, filled with 25 years of pictures and heartwarming notes written by members and trustees.
In Patti's words:
"There are not enough words to describe how blessed and honored I felt yesterday upon the presentation of the absolutely beautiful Memory Book of my tweny-five years as an Active Member of CCFC. Mary Ciernia was my sponsor in 1998 and she said CCFC was an organization that I would grow to love! She was absolutely right! The more you participate, the more you want to participate. The friendships you make are not replaceable, they are forever! And the number of children at risk that we have served over the years is immeasurable! The organizations that we have granted funds to are all very thankful for our extremely gifted organization of active, caring women, who love what we do in order to accomplish our goals! It does take a village!"

All You Need is ... Love ...

Each December, CCFC asks the Child Development Resource Center for a list of children, which includes their ages and shoes sizes. Thanks to the organization of Trustee, Jeanette Meek, members and trustees purchased shoes, socks and a small toy for each child whose name they selected. A sincere thanks to all the members and trustees who generously donated shoes, socks and toys.
