Beyond the Backpack: Parent Preparedness Initiative (Employee Interest & Feedback Survey)

The City Manager’s Millennial Roundtable (CMMR) is preparing to launch “Beyond the Backpack: A Parent Preparedness Initiative,” a back-to-school employee engagement experience designed to support CCG employees and their families through resources focused on family preparedness, wellness, and student success.

As we begin planning, we would love your feedback to help shape an experience that is meaningful, practical, and supportive for working parents, guardians, and caregivers across CCG.

Thank you for taking a few moments to complete this survey. (Deadline, Monday, June 8th)

Get Help & Support

If you’re in emotional distress or suicidal crisis, find help in your area.

If it’s an emergency, call 911. You can also go to your nearest emergency room. A medical professional can give information about your particular circumstances.

If you believe that someone else is in danger of suicide and you have their contact information, contact your local law enforcement for immediate help. You can also encourage the person to contact suicide prevention hotline at 988 (call or text).

When you’re in crisis, research suggests that it may be helpful to reach out to others. When you connect with others, it can help you feel supported and give you a sense of belonging.

Employee Spotlight

Congratulations to Ola Terrell, Human Resources Director, for earning the Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government through the University of Georgia. This accomplishment reflects her dedication to leadership, professional development, and excellence in public service.

Employee Safety Spotlight

As part of Risk Management’s commitment to safety in the workplace, we would like to acknowledge employees who demonstrate safe behavior on the job. If you have an employee who has shown superior safety practices, please let us know, and we will highlight them in the Insight Newsletter!

Please email the employee’s name, a photo, and how they showed safety practices to

Lauren Vance, Risk Management.

Workplace Safety

Hello everyone! Risk Management is continuing to add Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to our Outdoor AED Project. New units are now in place at the Shirley B. Winston Park and Northside Recreation Center!

Each AED station is secured and can be accessed by dialing 911. The dispatcher will provide the access code, ensuring both equipment protection and a fast response during emergencies. We’ve also added identification numbers to every AED box so that if someone is unfamiliar with the area, the dispatcher can quickly pinpoint the exact location when they call 911.

While you’re out enjoying our amazing city, please stop by one of the new units to familiarize yourself with the setup. Thank you for your continued commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.

Your Risk Management Team

KCBC Spotlight – Callie Shafer/Clubview Elementary School/

A big shoutout to Callie Shafer, a 5th-grade student at Clubview Elementary School!

As part of a school activity, students were asked to select something they were passionate about in the city and create a report/project. Callie chose Keep Columbus Beautiful as her topic and did an outstanding job! She created an impressive tri-board presentation and even took action by helping pick up litter at Lakebottom Park.

We love seeing young leaders making a difference and helping keep our community clean and beautiful. Great job, Callie! 💚
