HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

SUCESS STORY

A family came to CCHC through the Oregon Foreclosure Avoidance (OFA) program seeking help to avoid foreclosure on their home. With CCHC's help, the family was able to talk directly with the mortgage company and receive counseling that helped them work towards a solution that avoided foreclosure. In most cases, we help the homeowner work towards a loan modification, which permanently modifies the loan to make it more affordable to the homeowner. We can help homeowners avoid foreclosure about 70% of the time.

Homeowners need to know their options when they are in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure, and CCHC has bilingual Certified Foreclosure Avoidance Counselors on staff to assist homeowners.

Summer is here, so it's time for a mid-year financial checkup, which allows you to make necessary adjustments to your financial plan for the rest of the year. Here are some tips to help.

INTRODUCING OUR CARSON

COMMUNITY LAND TRUST

We are excited to announce that we are applying for funding to break ground on our 7-acre Community Land Trust model (CLT) in beautiful Carson, WA! The CLT is located just north of Wind River Middle School. We plan to build 14 2- and 3-bedroom single family homes.

What is a Community Land Trust?

If you buy a house through our program, you buy and own the house. CCHC retains ownership of the land. CCHC leases the land to you, as the homeowner, through a long-term ground lease agreement. Initial ground lease payment will be $65/month. Equity is capped annually to ensure the homes remain affordable for decades.

Who is eligible?

·    Household income limit: $55,000-$100,000 depending on family size and location (80% AMI or below)

·    First-time homebuyers (no homeownership within last 3 years)

·    Able to qualify for a bank loan

Work at Mid-Columbia Housing Authority & Columbia Cascade Housing Authority! We have two exciting employment opportunities: Site Manager & Housing Inspector/Maintenance.

Gorge Food Access Survey

The 2015 Columbia Gorge Food Security Assessment found that 1 in 3 households worry about running out of food, and 1 in 5 households actually do run out of food. This data was used in grants that secured more than $25 million for community programs. A decade has gone by. It is time to get new data that tells our stories, uplifts community voices, and shapes future initiatives.

  • Visit beav.es/GorgeFoodSurvey or scan the QR code on the flyer.
  • The survey takes about 15-20 minutes. Anyone in the Columbia Gorge, on either the Washington or Oregon side, can take the survey.
  • 20 people who fill out the survey will be chosen at random to get a $50 gift card.
  • Survey responses are not connected to your name. Please note that all questions, especially demographic questions ("Questions About You" section) are optional.
  • The survey closes on July 18.
