Vestry Retreat Explores Ministry from a Biblical Perspective
The vestries of St. Martin’s and Christ Church welcomed The Rev. Canon Betsy Ivey to facilitate our retreat on May 15th. Ivey is the Canon for Congregational Support and Growth with the Diocese of Pennsylvania. She and Pastor Veronika Travis helped the two vestries work together through a discussion of the ministry archetypes present in Ephesians 4: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Shepherds and Teachers. All these roles are present in the church as they were present in the ministry of Jesus.

The vestries explored the roles and how they relate to the ministry of Jesus and our work together. Then we reviewed the Covenant signed by both congregations in 2019 and began envisioning ways that our preferred ministry styles might come together to build relationships inside and outside our churches. Outreach and hospitality remain strong goals for our work together, and we will continue to explore the covenant and our options for working together this year in vestry meetings.

Two resources will assist families with children and teens to continue to think about their faith over the summer. The book "Christ Walk for Kids" will be distributed. There is an adult version of "Christ Walk" that encourages participation across generations. Contact Deb Parker for more details on both of these books (stmartinsradnor@gmail.com).

The Goal: Over the summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, keep track of your steps. You can then share them with Deb after Labor Day and we will total how many miles both congregations traveled cumulatively over the summer.

Everyone is also invited to take Christ with them this summer by printing and coloring this PDF of "flat Jesus." Take pictures of Jesus with you at the beach, in a park, or around your home. Enjoy the summer knowing that as we travel, Christ is with us.

Watch the video and hear the invitation from Pastor Veronika for everyone to participate.
If you miss a Sunday service, you don't have to miss the Rector's sermon. The following links allow you to listen to sermons from previous weeks.
