CCIRA March Newsletter 2021
A Message from CCIRA President,
Jessica Rickert

Promote

We want to thank all of our invited speakers who were scheduled to present at the 2021 CCIRA Conference for their understanding and grace with the unfortunate canceling of this year’s conference and their willingness to reschedule for the 2022 Conference.

We acknowledge that for most speakers, presenting is their livelihood, and this past year many of their events have been canceled. In an effort to promote them, we will be giving you information about the 2022 Conference speakers each month. We hope that you support their work through your school, district, council, or by simply buying one of their books.

Angela Maiers

If you attended the evening general session at the 2012 conference you had the opportunity to hear Angela Maiers. She was not originally slated to present at our conference but because the scheduled speaker was unable to attend at the last minute, Angela stepped in and presented her signature topic: You Matter.  People quickly felt her passion and love for helping people. In a time where both adults and students are struggling, Choose2Matter , Angela’s initiative is one we can all use in our lives.

Angela also has expertise in literacy education, virtual learning, and a wide range of other topics.

Please consider talking to your principal or district PD person about hiring Angela Maiers for professional development for a dose of inspiration. Attached are a few of her flyers. You can also find more information at www.AngelaMaiers.com and www.Choose2Matter.org.
Meet the Executive Committee!
Every month we will introduce you to one of the leaders on the Executive Committee to help you get to know this part of the CCIRA leadership better.
Jessie Meeks
Jessie is currently serving on the EC as the State Membership Coordinator. She served for three years on the conference committee, two years as the chairperson of the Awards Committee, and one year as member-at-large for the Jefferson County Council. In her professional life Jessie has taught for nine years in Jefferson County as a third grade teacher and this year is teaching a second and third grade combination class. Jessie is a Colorado native who loves to travel to the low country of South Carolina where she can visit the beach and Savannah, Georgia. Reading, of course, is her favorite thing to do.
