Humor

     There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer.

     When asked to define "great" he said, "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"

     He now writes error messages for Microsoft Corporation

     A mother took her little boy to church.
While in church the little boy said, "Mommy, I have to pee."
     The mother said to the little boy, "It's not appropriate to say the word 'pee' in church. So, from now on whenever you have to 'pee' just tell me that you have to 'whisper'."
     The following Sunday, the little boy went to church with his father and during the service said to his father, "Daddy, I have to whisper."

The father looked at him and said, "Okay, just whisper in my ear."

How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb?
"None. The light bulb will change itself when it's ready."
"Just one, but the light bulb really has to want to change."
"Just one, but it takes nine visits."
How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?
"How long have you been having this phantasy?"
"Why does the light bulb necessarily have to change?"
How many psychoanalysts does it take to change a light bulb?
"How many do you think it takes?"

"Looking in God's Mirror"
with Rev. Doti Boon

     In the musical, 'Les Miserables' there's a beautiful song with the line, "To love another person is to see the Doti speaking 1/29/12 face of God." Love is the key to discovering something of the glory of God, mirrored in each one of us.

     Most of us look in a mirror at least once a day. But, what do we see? Ourselves, of course! How do we react? Some of us may be very dissatisfied with our appearance. We compare ourselves with super-models - male or female - and find ourselves wanting. And, we will never have peace of mind unless we can accept what we see in the mirror and say, 'That's me! I'm glad!'

     Once you realize how important and perfect you are - you will see our Mother/Father God looking back. You will see yourself in the same mirror as our creator!

Tim MauroAlso performing, playing his original music. . .

Desiderata

by Rev. Doti Boon

I decided to clean up my office in a desperate attempt to get "organized" and ran across this beautiful poem that not only changed but saved my life in 1964 when I was going through a major depression.  May this sensitive and beautiful poem support you where you are today:

Desiderata

Words for Life

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Desiderata are, technically, things considered necessary or highly desirable OR something lacked and wanted.

This poem of things desirable in life was written in 1927 by Max Ehrmann.
