LAUGHTER AS MEDICINE
It is said that young children laugh as much as 100 to 200 times a day, compared to a large majority of adults who only get zero to several daily laughs. Yet laughter is good not only for the body but also for the soul and Spirit.

POWERFUL WORDS
The phrase that is guaranteed to wake up a congregation during a sermon: "And in conclusion..."

A Little Story

"On an island there lived three old hermits. They were so simple that the only prayer they used was: 'We are three; Thou art Three−have mercy on us!' Great miracles were manifested during this nave prayer.
"The local bishop came to hear about the three hermits and their inadmissible prayer, and decided
to visit them in order to teach them the canonical invocations. He arrived on the island, told the hermits that their heavenly petition was undignified, and taught them many of the customary prayers. The bishop then left
on a boat. He saw, following the ship, a radiant light. As it approached, he discerned the three hermits, who
were holding hands and running upon the waves in an effort to overtake the vessel.
"'We have forgotten the prayers you taught us,' they cried as they reached the bishop, 'and have hastened to ask you to repeat them.' The awed bishop shook his head.
"'Dear ones,' he replied humbly, 'continue to live with your old prayer!'"

This Sunday at CCL

 "Spiritualism and the Soul"
with Revs. Tom and Mary Garry and the CIG board of trustees.

The Center for Infinite Growth will be presenting the service this Sunday. Our topic is Spiritualism and the Soul, the background of our mother church; Universal Church of the Master. It is also part of the Spiritual Philosophy and it is an exciting one. The focus of our talk will be based on the writings of Dr. Byron J. Fitzgerald, UCM's second president, and author of A New Text of Spiritual Philosophy and Religion, copyright 1953. When Spirit speaks the truth the Word is forever.

Please join us.

Spiritualism and the Soul

Many powerful religions center about the idea of God, the divine aspect or segment in human nature, and the conditions surrounding the life to come and immortality of existence. The spirit of God has moved through human minds and Invisible Intelligences inspired early systems of worship and cultural manifestation.
These Religious traditions are often criticized for providing untestable elements in their books of wisdom.  The soul's existence is one of the most debated in discussions between science and religion. But is the concept of the soul really so vague and does it really have no evidence for a practical theory? Vedic philosophy and quantum mechanics may bring interesting ideas to consider.
Quantum chromodynamics describes sub-nuclear particles called quarks and gluons, which constitute protons and neutrons and describes our current understanding of elementary particles. To this day validating the existence of quarks has failed. Experiments confirming their existence never detected them directly. Therefore, indirect detection without direct detection is still valid to confirm the existence of something in science.
Vedic philosophy tells us about the existence of another type of particle called the atma, the soul, the self, having different properties from those of ordinary particles. The atma has 3 main qualities: eternality, knowledge and bliss.
1. Eternality is always present. The atma is the source of consciousness and the life force in a living entity; not made up of atmas; rather, they are these particles and are animating the material bodies that encase them. As soon as the atma leaves, the body no longer exhibits consciousness or life symptoms, and begins to degrade.
2. Knowledge refers to its interactions with the source.
3. Bliss refers to its natural state of happiness in service to God.
To declare that there is no soul, just because we can't see it with our current instruments, is akin to saying that there are no quarks because we can't detect them directly in our laboratories. Both the soul and the quarks' existence can be inferred indirectly by their effects (living symptoms and consciousness in the case of the soul; particle interactions in the case of the quarks).
Spirituality is much more than just blind faith and sentimentalism; it is an important and sophisticated process of purification that goes beyond the intellectual curiosity of a few. Its transformative power truly raises the standard of living of a person and positively influences the lives of those with whom he/she comes in contact.
Not everyone may have access to a synchrotron to prove the existence of quarks; but everyone has access to prove for themselves the existence of the soul and the process that takes one to it brings true happiness and inner fulfillment.
Please join us this Sunday as the Revs. Mary and Tom Garry, Universal Church of the Master Ministers, discuss Spiritualism and the Soul.

Sound and color used together or separately can create a healing vibration which can be used along with other techniques, such as Reiki, to enhance the energy flow. We may not be conscious of the many ways colors and sounds are used every day, such as in clothing, choices in music and even food.

FRI. May 4 - 7:00 to 9:00 - Drudic Celebration - Beltane with Dr. Ayleen. Beltane, the third of the four Celtic fire festivals, is the start of the light or "samos" half of the year. It starts now at dusk on the 30th of April and continues through May 1st. For the ancient Celts though, this was a holiday that depended on nature for its beginning. Traditionally, it was celebrated when the Hawthorn trees began to bloom.
Traditions such as the Maypole dances wearing of bells (to frighten the mischievous fairy folk which in Celtic lands were not considered friendly), dousing all fires in the community to be re-lit from the sacred fires, passing between or over fires, or through the smoke for purification are derived.  Sexuality was expressive and performed in honor of the God and Goddess. Today, Beltane is commonly known and celebrated as "May day" and the dance of the maypole still observed in many European cultures and the United States.  While at Alban Eilir the young couple's love was platonic, by Beltane they have grown to know the pleasures of sexuality. The festival is one which celebrates union.
Beltane was the time of sensuality revitalized, the reawakening of the earth and all of her children. It was the time when tribal people celebrated with joy the vivid colors and vibrant scents of the season, tingling summer breezes, and the rapture of summer after a long dormant winter. It was customary that Handfastings, for a year and a day, take place at this time.
Come share the evening with discussion of the significance of Beltaine and enjoy a feast of ceremonial foods, poetry and music.  Dress as you feel celebrates the season...have fun with it! (Druids should wear their ceremonial whites).
The cost of the evening is $20.00.  Payments can be made at the door.
If cost is an issue, please contact Dr. Ayleen or Kyna.
