Florida Launches Statewide Preregistration System for COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments: “Today (1/29), the state announced the launch of a statewide preregistration system to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments for individuals 65 and older and frontline health care workers. Send more vaccines to hospitals rather than entities like Publix, Lee Health's elected board says in letter to Gov. DeSantis: “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' COVID-19 vaccine distribution policies that shifted doses away from hospitals to other entities including Publix are putting health care workers at risk, Lee Health's elected Board of Directors wrote in a letter Monday (2/1).” - Naples Daily News

Florida vaccine residency rule may block access for migrant farmworkers: “A state proof of residency requirement is raising concerns about whether migrant workers will be able to get inoculated at all.” - Tampa Bay Times

Janssen Investigational COVID-19 Vaccine: Interim Analysis of Phase 3 Clinical Data Released: “An investigational COVID-19 vaccine developed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals (of Johnson & Johnson) appears to be safe and effective at preventing moderate and severe COVID-19 in adults, according to an interim analysis of Phase 3 clinical data (...)." - NIH

Novavax vaccine seems effective against COVID-19 in U.K. study: “Novavax Inc. said Thursday (1/28) that its COVID-19 vaccine appears 89% effective based on early findings from a British study and that it also seems to work — though not quite as well — against new mutated strains of the virus circulating in that country and South Africa.” - Modern Healthcare

The more contagious B.1.1.7 COVID variant is spreading quickly across Florida: “Florida is tied with California for the most identified cases of the quickly spreading variant of COVID-19, which federal public health officials say could become the dominant strain by March." - Naples Daily News

Florida developing plan to get COVID-19 vaccine to homebound seniors: “Florida is working on a plan to get the coronavirus vaccine to homebound seniors. The State says it’s prepared to help counties vaccinate people who can’t make it to vaccine sites, saying it plans to have vaccination strike teams that can vaccinate those in need from their homes.” - WINK News

Why it's hard to make vaccines and boost supplies: “Makers of COVID-19 vaccines need everything to go right as they scale up production to hundreds of millions of doses — and any little hiccup could cause a delay. Some of their ingredients have never before been produced at the sheer volume needed.” - Modern Healthcare

NCH Offers Monoclonal Antibiotic Therapy to Our Community: “Our goal is to try to have as many community physicians send their patients for a one time dose. This will very likely keep many of these patients out of the hospital.” - Instructions from NCH
