Foundation of CCMS “Docs & Duffers” charity golf tournament raises over $26,000: “The Foundation of CCMS recently hosted its 8th Annual “Docs and Duffers” charity golf tournament at Bonita Bay Club Naples. This fundraising event took place Sept. 18th and raised over $26,000 in net proceeds with participation from 100 golfers, 21 sponsors, and 19 volunteers.” - FCCMS
NCH Healthcare System starting elective surgeries; the hospital reinstates limited patient visitation: “The NCH Healthcare System is resuming elective surgeries Monday (9/27). In addition, the hospital system in Collier County is allowing limited patient visitation. Both moves are due to declining COVID-19 hospitalizations (...)." - Naples Daily News

In initial six weeks, Collier County schools exceeds its COVID-19 case total for all of last year: “Since the first day of school on Aug. 10, 2,065 cases have been tallied in the district's case dashboard as of Wednesday (9/22).” - Naples Daily News
Florida Gov. DeSantis Taps A New Surgeon General Who Doesn't Support Vaccine Mandates: “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced the state's next surgeon general, who falls in line with the governor's belief that vaccine mandates during the pandemic are unnecessary.” - NPR
After new surgeon general appointed, Florida revamps COVID-19 rule for schools: “(...) the Florida Dept. of Health on Wed. (9/22) issued a revised rule that gives parents more authority to decide whether children go to school after being exposed to people who have COVID-19." - Naples Daily News
A daily pill to treat COVID could be just months away, scientists say: (The medication, still in clinical trials, is) "a short-term regimen of daily pills that can fight the virus early after diagnosis and conceivably prevent symptoms from developing after exposure.” - PBS News Hour
