Florida governor hopes his state will be first to import drugs from Canada: "Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is trying to convince President Donald Trump to permit the state to be the first in the U.S. to import cheaper drugs from Canada. 'While our prices remain high, our neighbors in Canada are spending significantly less for the same drugs,' DeSantis said in a statement." - Modern Healthcare

Planned Parenthood barred from Title X under final draft rule: "The Trump administration on [2/22] released its draft final rule that would bar Planned Parenthood affiliates from the roughly $290 million in funds for the federal family planning network known as Title X (...). Planned Parenthood President Dr. Leana Wen warned the group would fight the rule "through every avenue" including litigation." - Modern Healthcare

Americans travel an average of 34 minutes to access medical services, study shows: “Americans spend an average of 34 minutes on the road to a doctor’s office or other medical entity and another 11 minutes waiting to be seen (...). The economic impact of time spent traveling and waiting for health care is $89 billion annually, Corey Rhyan, senior analyst with Altarum, said.” - Naples Daily News

Neighborhood Health Clinic celebrates expansion after year of construction: "A yearlong expansion is complete at Neighborhood Health Clinic, and its leaders and supporters [celebrated] the milestone on [2/28]. The 8,400-square-foot addition and renovation to the existing building is enabling the volunteer-driven clinic to expand services to clients.” - Naples Daily News

Summer Or Year Internships for High School Students through the NAF Academy of Barron Collier High School

We are looking for physicians who would be willing to take a high school student as an intern for the summer or for monthly assignments over the next year beginning in the summer or fall. Each internship is 120 hours, which can be performed over the summer or spread out over the school year, as long as 120 hours of internship are completed. The student will be paid for their internship, but the monies for this come from the school district. The students are Juniors who have successfully completed two years of advanced study with the NAF Academy, a program focused on preparation for life skills in a rigorous field, such as medicine. 

Please, contact Mr. Ian Sharp, Director of the Biomedical NAF Academy for Barron Collier High School with any questions or with a willing attitude to make a difference in a young adult’s experience and exposure to medicine.
