Congressional Legislative Call to Action - "Surprise Billing"
Florida Medical Association Legislative Action Alert
Congress has been moving swiftly to address the issue of “surprise” out-of-network billing with strong support from the White House and a bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers. Unfortunately, the legislative proposals that have been gaining the most momentum thus far would harm physicians and patients by establishing the median in-network rate as a benchmark for out-of-network payments, failing to address the network adequacy issues that precipitate out-of-network bills, and offering limited or nonexistent access to an equitable independent dispute resolution (IDR) process.

Given the urgency of this issue, we are asking you to help us educate Congress about the need for legislation that protects the practice of medicine and holds insurers accountable.

Please cut and paste the text of the letter contained in this link and send it in an email to your congressional members listed below. Let them know how much this issue matters to the physicians of Florida. (*You will have to submit each letter separately.)

For any technical questions on how to send Congress the emails, please contact Eric at the FMA at 850-224-6496.

Together, we can make sure the voice of medicine is heard loud and clear in Washington. Thank you for your help!
