Dr. Summa practices in the areas of general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and dermatologic surgery. She received the Excellence in Dermatology award in medical school, and between her third and fourth year, she dedicated a year to wound healing research at the State University of New York at Stonybrook. Here she worked with world-renowned Dermatologists on cutting-edge treatments for chronic wounds and became the Managing Editor for a textbook on wound healing.
During her training Dr. Summa served as Chief Intern and as Chief Resident. As a resident, she was the lead on several clinical trials. In addition, she worked alongside Dr. Bernard Ackerman to further her interest in Dermatopathology. She then served as a Dermatology clinical instructor at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has been a speaker for several pharmaceutical companies and the National Psoriasis Foundation, educating both patients and physicians on therapeutics. Dr. Summa has also published several articles in various Dermatology journals.
As a native New Yorker, Dr. Summa enjoys the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and biking. She enjoys cooking to bring friends and family together and is dedicated to a healthy lifestyle.
