MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT MICHAEL P. WEST
I am so proud to be a part of the CCOE family and the Colusa County community. As we all have navigated these uncharted frontiers during COVID, we have worked beyond the norm - above and beyond the call of duty. A special thank you to the CCOE family for your unwavering commitment during these most difficult times. This summer please take time to unplug, unwind, and relax. Please check in with yourself, your family, and friends. Your health is essential. Yes, it’s been a tough year, but let’s try to celebrate how much we have grown and all of the great things we have accomplished. I look forward to this next school year, as we are moving forward even stronger. Have a safe and restful summer.
- Michael P. West, Colusa County Superintendent of Schools

PREPARING FOR KINDERGARTEN DURING THE SUMMER!
The move from a preschool setting to Kindergarten is an important transition for young children and families. Research shows that children are more likely to be successful in school both academically and socially, when families are engaged in school related activities. To help children transition through summer, play games such as “Look for the letter B” at the grocery store or places in the community. Simple cooking activities using measuring cups builds language and math skills. Continue to support social emotional development by practicing patience, making friends, taking turns, and problem solving. It is a good idea for families to visit the school with their child and talk about areas that will be the same as preschool, or different. Positive interactions make a big difference and supports a smooth transition.
