Environmental Advocate Position: Application Deadline / Jan. 31st 


Concerned Citizens of Montauk, a community-based environmental organization is seeking an experienced, self-starter to assist with campaigns to protect the natural environment. The Environmental Advocate is a full-time salaried position that is responsible for the development and accomplishment of strategic, community-based campaigns that promote the   protection and restoration of Eastern Long Island's natural resources. The position includes a particular focus on monitoring and improving local and regional water quality.  CCOM is a small collegial office where flexibility, teamwork, and ability to take on multiple tasks as assigned is valued.

SUFFOLK COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY TO HOST "WATER TALK"
Wednesday 1/18 @ 6-7:30pm, East Hampton Library  

Suffolk County Water Authority will be hosting a "WaterTalk" at the East Hampton Library on Wednesday, January 18 from 6 -7:30pm.

The event will feature will feature SCWA laboratory and hydrogeology staff and offer residents the opportunity to ask questions about any water quality issues that concern them.

This initial meeting in East Hampton will have opening remarks from SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey W. Szabo about what "WaterTalk" seeks to accomplish as well as presentations from SCWA Director of Strategic Initiatives and Lead Hydrogeologist Ty Fuller, Laboratory Manager Tom Schneider and Workforce Technology Manager Larry Anderson.

The meeting is free & open to the public and will be held in the library's Baldwin Family Lecture Room.
GUIDED MONTAUK SEAL HIKE  
Sunday 1/22, 11am-1pm @ Montauk Point State Park 
Join our good friends at Peconic Estuary Program (PEP) and Montauk Point State Park on a guided hike to catch site of seals lounging on the rocks!

This easy 2 mile round trip hike is appropriate for people of all hiking levels and is kid friendly.

Please dress warm as we will be hiking along the shore, gloves and hats are strongly recommended. There is a $4 fee for this nature hike, all proceeds go to the Montauk State Park.
