NOVEMBER 2019 NEWS

Dear Parents: How we love October at CCPC! From the Family BBQ to our beloved Homestead Farm Trip to the fun and thrill of Halloween--there is so much to enjoy. PreK parents recently got together at neighborhood restaurant, La Ferme, for a wonderful evening of laughter and connection. I know many classes are holding potluck gatherings right around now. Please enjoy getting to know the parents in your class. I hope you all will form lasting bonds in your time here at CCPC and beyond. Staff had a great team building off-site outing to bowl and relax over lunch this month. Next week, we host an in-house continuing ed training focused on anxiety in children, a prevalent condition we increasingly see at young ages. Teachers here embrace lifelong learning as part of our practice to bring individualized and child-centered learning to every student.

I look forward to the arrival of winter and holidays which bring us together to reflect on the blessings of family and friends. CCPC is so fortunate to have our beautiful families here each day. With gratitude for all our parents do! Noni

School is closed Monday, November 11 for Veterans Day.

THREE POINT TURNS ARE DANGEROUS

Parents have been reporting many incidences of 3 point/U turns being made at high speed during drop-off and pick-up. Please slow down and go down the street and turn at the triangle where Patterson Street and Chevy Chase Parkway meet to turn around. Parent volunteers will help monitor this in the next month to help remind drivers of safety concerns. Note: CCPC, along with Blessed Sacrament School, initiated a DDOT Traffic survey last November with the DC government to look at options such as a crosswalk and improved signage to increase pedestrian safety. Stay tuned for results/progress.

Now Available in our Parent Resource Library I attended a keynote address at the Mid-Atlantic Episcopal School Early Educators conference last week by Carol Kranowitz, an expert on sensory processing. Come borrow these newly acquired books. Please borrow and then return after a week or two on the honor system. These great activities are good for all children!
