Parent News
February 2022
Greetings!

Valentine's Day is always a special holiday at CCPC. Love is the basis of everything we do and celebrating love is always incredibly exciting for all our little friends! March has arrived and we are now rounding the corner, fingers crossed, to consistently warmer weather and lots of springtime fun outdoors.

Thanks to all our parents who referred a friend or neighbor to us for next year! We love welcoming new families who have a connection to our community. Waitlists are out and we hope to offer a few more places as our few remaining spots open up.

The Big Room is taking shape. We will open our amazing new Climbing Wall in the next few weeks. Thanks to our generous community for raising the funds that make this project a reality.

Overheard at a recent teacher meeting...
PreK teachers delving into the concurrent development of letter recognition and phonemic awareness and the various paces for different children on these two important kindergarten readiness skills. I love seeing our teachers collaborate and think deeply about our curricular approach to getting our "big kids" ready for their starts at academic schools.

Thanks for your support for our wonderful Auction and Party! Please buy your tickets, donate to our wine cellar, bid on a fabulous item including many great trips (beginning March 14), and buy a raffle ticket to win a 3-week session of summer camp!

See you at Dauphine's!

Love & Support for our Community Partner
Woodland and Creekside children enjoyed helping our neighbors and assembled 110 beautiful playkits for children living in DC shelters. Perfect timing to send some love out into the world before the DCPS week off of school.

Teaching kindness and community!

Support an Afghan Refugee Family
CCPC is sponsoring an Afghan refugee family with four children through the church's Refugee Resettlement Task Force group. The family just moved out of an extended stay hotel into their new home, a townhouse in Gaithersburg. The younger ones will be able to walk to their local elementary school and the oldest will take a bus to middle school. They have asked us if we could provide them some wheels so they can enjoy their new neighborhood. If you have any outgrown scooters, bikes or helmets in good condition, consider donating to this family. Here is the children's wish list:
Baheer, a boy, age 12, a scooter or a bike
Marwa, a girl, age 8 scooter or bike
Donya, a girl, age 5 scooter
Zaheer, a boy, age 3 tricycle or a beginner's scooter
Please email Noni Lindahl and bring your donation to our lobby. Deadline to donate is March 9.

TRAVEL GUIDELINES
Similar to DCPS, CCPC will no longer require a quarantine period following domestic travel out of the region. For all unvaccinated children, please administer a rapid antigen test the night before your return to school and a second test the following evening. If you cannot access free tests from a pharmacy or library, please contact the office to receive a test kit. We hope that families can find a way to enjoy some time away to relax and renew in these stressful times without concerns about missing classroom days.
