CCPHC Quarterly Newsletter - Issue 5

CCPHC partnered with Partners for Collaborative Change to develop and host an equity training workshop for LHD leadership and staff on April 17th-19th at Tenaya Lodge. The purpose of the training was to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to champion and implement equity within their departments and communities. A very heartfelt thank you to all who attended as well as to Partners for Collaborative Change staff!

We obtained IRB approval to start data collection for this study on March 27th. Please distribute the survey flyer to community partners and community members in your county.

Our Healthcare Sustainability Working Group has been convening monthly to brainstorm strategies that aim to address solutions to our identified priority areas: 1) Reimbursement rates, 2) Reimagining the healthcare system, & 3) Promoting medical education in the region. Amplify the message and join us for our regional, social media blast on May 6th! CCPHC is partnering with you to highlight problems and solutions related to access to care, healthcare workforce, hospital finance, and health outcomes.

All CBO & LHD staff are invited to attend our 4th CBO Collaboration Call on May 31st from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Please see the attached flyer for details and a registration link! 

Register for a virtual workshop on CCPHC’s Data Equity Principles on May 24th from 2-3:30 PM. This workshop is open to anyone in Central California who is interested in increasing equity in data practices. This workshop is designed to improve the understanding, application, and utilization of equitable data practices in Central California. Find more information on the workshop here  and register here.

CCPHC hosts a monthly learning series on Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change (PSE). Please join us to discuss best practices in PSE programming, identify common barriers and celebrate the success of PSE Programming in Central CA. The April agenda will specifically focus on immunization programming across the region. Please register here if you are interested in joining the series. 

We are seeking community members to join us in partnering with Stanford for a study that aims to address cancer treatment disparities in Central California. Partnering community members will receive $500 for attending 6 workshops. See this flyer for more details. 

• Central Valley Community Foundation’s Council of Business Sponsors Convening: CCPHC presented regional health data to CVCF’s business partners, alongside other regional public health and healthcare experts. Thank you to CVCF for the invitation and recognition of the role public health plays in our communities. 
• Central Valley Legislators’ Roundtable: CCPHC presented regional health data, alongside other regional public health experts, to legislative staff from Central California. Thank you to CVCF for the invitation and recognition of the importance of discussing regional health data with legislators. 
• CDPH Office Hours: Amber Shaver delivered a presentation on the Data Equity Principles as part of the CDPH Equity TA Office Hours on April 16th. The audience included local health department staff from across the state as well as staff from other regional public health organizations.
