CCPHC Quarterly Newsletter - Issue 7

Our Perceptions of Public Health Research Project has been completed! This research was conducted in order to ascertain community members’ levels of familiarity and attitudes towards local health departments throughout our region. 

• Please review our Perceptions of Public Health Regional Report for an overview of this research project as whole, including regional findings, implications,  and next steps. 
• Register for our webinar on January 29th to hear more about the study’s process and findings, explore implementation strategies and successes, and discuss future opportunities for research in this topic.

Our Healthcare Sustainability Working Group has been convening monthly to brainstorm strategies that aim to address solutions to our identified priority areas: 1) Reimbursement rates, 2) Reimagining the healthcare system, & 3) Promoting medical education in the region. Our next meeting will be held on September 18th. Please email Jamen at jameng@mail.fresnostate.edu if you are interested in joining the working group.

In partnership with CDPH’s CASPER team, CCPHC will be hosting two regional trainings for LHD staff and partners that will train participants to conduct CASPER studies. One training will take place in the South Valley at the San Joaquin Council of Governments Regional Center in Stockton on February 6th and the second will take place in the North Valley at the International Agri-Center in Tulare on March 11th. Please watch for additional information and registration materials soon.

CCPHC hosts a monthly learning series on Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change (PSE) that has recently been designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES®) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES®) to receive up to 1 total Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH). Please join us to discuss best practices in PSE programming, identify common barriers and celebrate the success of PSE Programming in Central CA. Register here!

Yesenia Silva attended the APHA 2024 Annual Meeting and Expo from October 27th to 30th to present our abstract, “How does a regional organization support equity work within Central California?” as part of the Ethics program. She shared how a regional approach has fostered collaboration among public health experts, provided essential infrastructure for cross-learning among local health departments facing similar challenges and health outcomes, and supported the development of critical frameworks identified by Consortium members.
