CCPHC Quarterly Newsletter - Issue 6

Our third annual PSE training was held on August 12th and 13th at CSU Stanislaus, Turlock Campus. Eleven LHDs and ten CBO partner organizations were in attendance to hear engaging presentations and participate in workshops and discussions about PSE. Our Healthcare Sustainability Working Group has been convening monthly to brainstorm strategies that aim to address solutions to our identified priority areas: 1) Reimbursement rates, 2) Reimagining the healthcare system, & 3) Promoting medical education in the region. Our next meeting will be held on September 18th. Please email Jamen at jameng@mail.fresnostate.edu if you are interested in joining the working group.

CCPHC hosts a monthly learning series on Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change (PSE) that has recently been designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES®) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES®) to receive up to 1 total Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH). CCPHC Program Manager, Jamen, had the opportunity to attend the annual National Association of County and City Health Officials (NAACHO) Conference in Detroit, MI on July 23 -26, 2023. It was an informative and enriching time to learn about best practices and strategies related to health equity. Jamen presented four posters on behalf of the Consortium. She was also able to connect with others in attendance at a CCPHC hosted Networking Session. We look forward to connecting with partners at next year’s conference in Anaheim, CA.

The Perceptions of Public Health Advisory Board met virtually on August 15th to review survey and focus group findings from the study. The advisory committee members had a robust discussion about the implications of the findings and recommendations for dissemination.
