Merchant Partner of the Week
Every week we spotlight a member of the CCRA Merchant Partner ‘Deals & Discount’ Program, which helps local Mom and Pop businesses get back on their post-pandemic feet by providing complimentary valuable advertising and exposure by encouraging support from CCRA’s highly-engaged (and growing) membership. This week we feature the legendary Di Bruno Bros. on Chestnut St.
All Roads Lead to Di Bruno’s
Just what would Center City do without Di Bruno’s, anyway? Scary thought, right?
Ponder, if you will, all the stellar dinner parties that would have been subpar minus the killer cuisine of Di Bruno’s. A culinary pioneer for 80 years, Merchant Partner Di Bruno’s is a full-fledged, European-style marketplace. You name it; they have it: meat, seafood, wine, beer, produce, chef-prepared meals, homemade desserts, and oh, that cheese cave! Di Bruno’s has consistently saved the bacon of party-givers in more ways than one, and now you can save – 10%! –  by becoming a member of CCRA.
Clean, Safe, and Green
Help Keep Our Sidewalks Beautiful: Please Donate
Center City is one of the cleanest neighborhoods in the City, and it’s no accident, nor is it free. CCRA has a contract with the Center City District to clean local sidewalks after weekly trash collection. This effort is not covered by your membership, which is where you come in. You are encouraged to donate your fair share to CCRA’s Clean, Safe & Green program, and you can do so here.

Cocktail Lounge Lands in Franklin Square
Just in time for summer, the Franklin View Beer Garden comprises two open-air rooms occupying 7,300 sq ft that showcase wooden floors, high ceilings and hanging chandeliers. And oh yes, the food: bar food such as short rib sliders, flatbread pizza and fried calamari, all washed down with summery cocktails.
Cocktails-to-Go On Ice Until Fall at Earliest
For many PA bars and restaurants, Gov. Wolf’s emergency order permitting cocktails-to-go was nothing short of a pandemic lifeline. The order expired on June 15, however, and has not been renewed apparently due to – surprise – partisan infighting. Given the summer recess, the soonest the portable potables could return would be sometime in the Fall.
E-Scooters Remain Grounded in PA
E-Scooters are gaining ground nationwide – New York State OK’d them in April – but in PA they continue to be stalled (and illegal). (Never mind the fact that they’re ubiquitous anyway; what, the fact that they’re in bike lanes means they don’t count?) Among the issues in play are both the specific legal status and traffic safety.
