Subaru Riverside Surprises Brinson Memorial Educators

with Learning Grants

On Friday, August 29th, representatives from Subaru Riverside joined Principal Mr. Germain and Assistant Principal Ms. Szymanski for a very special presentation at Brinson Memorial. Together, they surprised six deserving educators with the Subaru Loves Learning Grant.

As the prize patrol entered classrooms carrying the $500 awards, students erupted in cheers. One curious student even asked, “What is the mission of Subaru?”, a perfect question from a recipient class whose learning will be directly enhanced by this gift.

The Eagle Café is Now Open at West Craven High! ☕🦅

Coffee, delicious breakfast treats, and lots of smiles are now being served at The Eagle Café, West Craven High School’s new student-run coffee shop.

The café is more than just a place to grab a pick-me-up; it’s a hands-on learning opportunity for Exceptional Children (EC) students to build life skills while also raising funds for their classroom. Staff can enjoy delivery of their special orders or stop by for a visit filled with warm greetings and great service.

This vision, brought to life by EC Teacher Ms. Kearney, is offered Monday through Friday. The ultimate goal is to provide students with meaningful work experience that fosters customer service, responsibility, and teamwork.

Through The Eagle Café, students are gaining more than work experience; they are building confidence, independence, and real-world knowledge that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.

West Craven High is proud of these students’ hard work and grateful for the staff’s support in making this initiative a success.
