CCS Families In the Know

Share Your Voice in the Superintendent Search

The Board of Education wants to hear from you! As part of the superintendent search process, we are seeking input from students, staff, parents, and community members on the qualities they believe are most important for the next leader of Craven County Schools to possess.

To ensure every stakeholder has an opportunity to be heard, an anonymous online survey has been created. All responses will be collected by the Board’s hired superintendent search firm, McPherson & Jacobson, and shared with the Board of Education.

Survey Window: Friday, September 26 – Friday, October 3

Survey Link: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/CravenCounty2025

We encourage everyone to take a few moments to complete the survey. Please only submit one entry per person. Your feedback is critical in helping the Board of Education understand the essential characteristics needed for the next superintendent to guide Craven County Schools toward continued success.

Thank you for lending your voice to this important process!

We want to extend a sincere thank you to all our families for your help and dedication in completing the Federal Impact Aid Cards this year. This process takes a few minutes of your time, and your efforts will help ensure that Craven County Schools will receive the maximum federal funds our district deserves.

Your attention to detail will have a significant impact, and we appreciate your time. These funds directly support our schools and students, and we cannot accomplish this without your support.

We appreciate each of you and your continued commitment to the success of our district!

Surprise Announcement!

On Wednesday, September 24th, Havelock Elementary’s own Ms. Ashleigh Eadie, 1st-grade teacher, was honored as the Craven County Schools 2025 Beginning Teacher of the Year!

Now in her second year as a Beginning Teacher (BT2), Ms. Eadie returned to her first love, teaching, after a career change, bringing passion, creativity, and heart to her classroom each day. Her dedication inspires both students and families, who consistently praise the confidence and joy for learning she fosters.

Her principal, Mrs. Christy Hazlett, describes her as “an exquisite and exceptional educator…a rare teacher whose talent, passion, and heart shine far beyond her years of experience.”

This special surprise ceremony took place in front of students, staff, her family, school board members, and district leaders, a true celebration of her impact!

Ms. Eadie will now represent Craven County Schools in the NCCAT North Carolina Beginning Teacher of the Year process.

Join us in congratulating Mrs. Ashleigh Eadie on this incredible honor!
