Reading for Cat Lovers

Last month we introduced a new feature: a monthly cat book recommendation for our readers. We are doing this as another way to stay in touch with all of you and with the cats in our lives. We began with a wonderful cat mystery --"The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency" by Mandy Morton. The cat detective, Hettie Bagshot, is the lead character in this cats only mystery. There are no human characters at all. If you have read this story, and enjoyed it, you might want to read all or some of the other seven books in this series by Morton. Here is the website for this terrific series: #2 Feline Detective Agency.

Also, we welcome book recommendations from our readers. Please send your comments and suggestions to These can be books for children, adults, and young adults. Watch for another book suggestion in the next Mewsletter!
If you order the book from Amazon, don’t forget to register Cat Care Society as your SMILE charity!

And bakers, be thinking of your favorite baked goods that are so much fun to make, and even more fun to consume! Additional information will follow soon, but if you have questions please contact Amy at
Meet Colby-A Total Sweetheart

Colby is 2 years old and a sweetheart who loves everyone he meets. Colby came to us after he developed skin lesions from food and environmental allergies which his family had trouble treating. He requires a hypoallergenic diet and is on a medication. He also has cerebellar hypoplasia which makes him walk in a wobbly way, but he gets around just fine.

His monthly treatment is somewhat expensive -- his pills are $68.70 a month and food costs are $61.99 for an 8lb bag of dry food and $65.54 for 24 cans of wet food.
This cuddlebug is worth every penny and is very easy to medicate. Colby's balance is already pretty shaky so he does need a one story home where the owner can keep windows closed or just slightly cracked. Any fall could really damage his spine. While this little guy sounds high maintenance, he is so loving and playful that he will make it all worthwhile. He does well with other cats and would probably be ok with a very mellow dog. Please come meet Colby if you are looking for a very special and affectionate furry pal!
