District 89 families:
Tomorrow is the final day of the fall parent-teacher conferences in our district. We are so appreciative of the many, many families who have taken the time to meet with teachers and discuss your child’s progress in school. Our staff truly values the partnership between the home and school. We believe that everyone - especially the student - benefits from this family-teacher bond. If you continue to have questions for your student’s teachers after conferences, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Speaking of making connections, I hope some of you will be able to join us for the “Talking 89” superintendent community meeting on Tuesday, December 7, in the district office. The meeting is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the district. We are offering two times - 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. - with the agenda will be the same for both. We will be discussing what you value about education in CCSD 89, how you determine if we are meeting your expectations, and where the district is meeting or not meeting those expectations. It’s not required but we ask that anyone who plans to attend RSVP here so we can prepare appropriate seating.
Finally: November is a time for gratitude and I am certainly thankful for the warm welcome I have received from students, community members, and staff in this district. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and I look forward to many more events and interactions. Personally, I'm thankful that my wife and I will have both our son and daughter home with us on Thursday. I hope that your family also has a chance to enjoy time together this week. Thank you for all that you do to support education in our district.
Sincerely,
Doug Eccarius
Superintendent
Community Consolidated School District 89

Make sure the school has updated info ahead of winter weather |
When school buildings need to close due to extreme weather (such as heavy snow), updates will be released through a phone message, as well as the district’s website (www.ccsd89.org), Facebook page (facebook.com/CCSD89), and X account (@CCSD89). The district’s messaging system uses contact info supplied by guardians so it is important you contact the school secretary and update your records.
CCSD 89 will not be providing online learning when school is canceled due to weather. If a snow day is necessary, schools will be closed and the day will be added to the end of the school year. Learn more: www.ccsd89.org/weather
