Suggestions for reducing issues while using Zoom on Chromebooks
The district’s technology team is aware of reports of difficulty getting quality audio during Zoom sessions, as well as Chromebooks shutting down at random times. Many of the Chromebooks now being used by remote learners were originally purchased to be used for traditional classroom work, long before Zoom was part of a school day. Consequently, some of these devices can be underpowered for Zoom at times.

Some ways to reduce these issues:

The district’s technology team continues to work on solutions to these issues. Some guides for quick technology fixes are available at www.ccsd89.org/howto If you have additional concerns or questions, you can reach out to the district’s technology team at [email protected] or (630) 545-3594.
New students can begin pre-registration February 10
Families with students who will be starting kindergarten or new to CCSD 89 in the 2021-22 school year can begin the pre-registration process on Wednesday, February 10.

On February 10, families will be able to go to www.ccsd89.org/register and use the light-red button for "2021-22 new student registration". At the end of that process, families will receive a link to submit residency-verification documents.

Update: CCSD 89 will not be holding residency verification events this year. Residency documents can be submitted online and families will then schedule a time to turn in an original birth certificate. Families that cannot submit residency documents online can bring them to the school when they turn in their child's birth certificate. More info: http://bit.ly/3p14HKp

Registration for returning students opens April 7.
Families in need can apply for help in purchasing food for kids
If you need help buying food for your children, you can apply for Pandemic-EBT SNAP Benefits through the Illinois Department of Human Services. For each child, families will receive the cost of daily meals for the number of school days that month.

If you currently receive SNAP benefits, you are automatically eligible. To qualify, your child must be eligible to receive free or reduced-priced meals through the school district. If you have not already filled out the free and reduced lunch application for this year, be sure to submit it to [email protected].

You can apply for the Pandemic-EBT SNAP Benefits at ABE.illinois.gov or complete a paper application at www.dhs.state.il.us. You will receive a P-EBT LINK card in the mail with instructions on how to use the card. More information: https://bit.ly/3trfVKz
