A Summary of President-Elect Donald Trump's Business Tax Plan
CohnReznick LLP

President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to pursue significant changes to existing tax laws for individuals and businesses. The following is a summary of Trump's statements on taxes and tax policy that were made during his presidential campaign as they pertain specifically to business taxation. The nature and scope of these tax proposals may change once Trump takes office in 2017.

The First 100 Days
Trump has introduced broad legislative measures that he would like to work with Congress to implement within the first 100 days of his administration. The tax-related legislative measures include the Middle Class Tax Relief and Simplification Act; the American Energy & Infrastructure Act; Repealing and Replacing the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare"); and the Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act.

"Be Flexible & Be Pleasantly Surprised!"

It's sometimes difficult to meet new business connections at South Jersey Chamber events who are potential long-term business contacts or, better yet, customers. Here's a tip that has helped me over the years.

When attending an event where a meal will be served, don't be overly concerned about canvassing the audience to try to find a potential customer to sit next to. Rather, find an open table and sit with someone you don't already know. You will often be pleasantly surprised with the people you'll meet at your table. By being open to making new contacts, I've often met future customers, or business connections who can refer me to a potential customer.  All it takes is being pleasant and engaging, and introducing yourself to new faces you don't already know!

SNJ Business Leaders Applaud Restoration of Income Tax Reciprocity Agreement with PA
CCSNJ EVP & COO Kathy Davis speaks at a press conference about income tax reciprocity on Dec. 1.
The CCSNJ would like to express its deepest gratitude to Governor Chris Christie, Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald for their efforts to reinstate the income tax reciprocity agreement between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The decades-old agreement allows out-of-state employees to pay income tax to the state in which they live, helping to bolster business in South Jersey by attracting top talent from across the state line.

Thank you for protecting South Jersey businesses and keeping the agreement intact!
