Food Desert Relief Supermarket Tax Credit Applications Open December 20, 2023

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) opened applications for the Food Desert Relief Supermarket Tax Credit Program on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

The Food Desert Relief Supermarket Tax Credit Program addresses the food security needs of New Jersey’s 50 Food Desert Communities (FDCs) by providing up to $40 million per year in tax credits to develop and sustain new supermarkets and grocery stores in food deserts. No more than two grocery stores in each FDC can receive tax credits through the program.

Questions may be submitted to FoodDesertRelief@njeda.gov. Any answers provided will also be shared publicly so that all bidders have the same information.

Meet Our Ambassadors

"Personally and professionally, we are all part of group emails, texts, and chats and sometimes our replies are just intended for the primary sender. Please take the extra few moments to reply back to just that person and read your response just one more time before you hit send. The other recipients may not want multiple replies inundating their inbox and replies that are just meant for the sender can go out to "all" and could cause problems down the road. Even worse, they could be re-posted, re-tweeted on social media without any context or rebuttal. Once something is out there, it is out there! So next "reply"; think, respond, review and send it only to those who you want to read it."
