2025-26 Faculty Fellows Spotlight

Noah Tamarkin

Associate Professor

Anthropology and Science & Technology Studies

Tamarkin studies the social and cultural production and implications of genomic technologies like genetic ancestry and forensic DNA databases. Check out a recent book chapter about African indigeneity and genetics, and his newest article that explores the dynamics of carcerality and human rights in debates about expanding South Africa's national forensic DNA database.

Maria C. Taylor

Assistant Professor

Landscape Architecture

Taylor's teaching and research focus on the history and theory of landscape, architecture, and urban planning, particularly in the Soviet Union. She recently published a chapter on the Stalinist garden-factory model of industrial hazard mitigation in the book Detroit-Moscow-Detroit, and has been interviewed for the podcasts 99% Invisible and The Eurasian Knot. Other current projects include an article on the transnational history of urban climatology and a book manuscript titled "Civic Engineering: Soviet urbanism between Forest and Factory".
