Things to know

Follow this simple tip to save money for preventive screenings.
STOP GOING TO THE HOSPITAL FOR ANYTHING WELLNESS RELATED! A simple preventive blood panel or scan that is completed at the hospital can blow your entire $500 preventive budget for the plan year. The best ways to get the most value is to participate in the on-site screenings and utilize non-hospital owned imaging centers and labs for preventive tests ordered by your physician.

Nutrition Info 101
Why Calories are important to reach any personal goal.
Calories are important to reach any personal goal whether its weight loss, muscle gain, more energy, or to improve biometrics. But many people don't understand how many calories they need to accomplish a specific goal and what kinds of foods to eat to achieve their goals. Here are some important tips to help you succeed with calorie selection.
  • Use a calorie tracking app: It is very hard to achieve a personal weight or health goal if you have no idea how many calories you need on a daily basis. Once you plug in your height, weight, age, and how much you exercise, calorie tracking apps will tell you how many calories you need to eat to maintain that weight. The amount of calories will adjust in the app depending on your health goals. Even if you don't want to track your food daily, these apps are great to figure out how many calories you need.
  • Choose the right foods: By eating healthier, unprocessed foods, your body will burn calories more efficiently. Lean proteins such as fish, chicken, deer, bison, and some cuts of beef, are optimal for muscle synthesis and help to keep us satiated for longer periods of time which help us to eat less foods. Protein has 4 calories per 1 gram. Healthy carbohydrates are the bodies main source of fuel making up nearly 50% of our daily calories. By choosing the right carbs you can actually help your metabolism burn calories more effectively. Higher fiber foods, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and proper portion sizes are essential to achieving a personal health goal. Carbohydrates have 4 calories per 1 gram. Healthy fats are great for our hearts, hormones, and help to balance out the rest of our daily caloric intake. Healthy fats like nuts, seeds, avocados, healthy oils, are great to add to a diet and help to replace unhealthy fats. Fats have 9 calories per 1 gram, so you don't need as much to get a good amount of calories.
