Congratulations to the Child Development Center

Congratulations to the ACCA Child Development Center leadership and staff on its accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The NAEYC promotes high-quality learning by connecting practice, policy, and research. This accreditation ensures high-quality experiences for children in early childhood education programs.
Hunger Walk

The 2018 Annandale CROP Hunger Walk will be Saturday, October 20 at 8 a.m. at Lake Accotink Park. The Annandale CROP Hunger Walk raises funds for Church World Service's (CWS)  hunger and refugee relief and development programs and for ACCA. Walkers collect donations to CWS from sponsors online or by check or cash.

Youth through grade 12 are invited to make posters to promote the Annandale CROP Walk and to learn about hunger and poverty. The posters should be 14" x 22" or smaller. Please mark the artist's name, age and church on the back and submit by October 10.

For more information please contact Camille Mittelholtz, walk coordinator, at 703 573-0074 or by email at accacrop@gmail.com or kcmittelholtz@gmail.com.
Refugee Family Update

ACCA is committed to supporting a refugee family through the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service this year.

We are still working toward our goal of welcoming a refugee family. The number of Special Immigrant Visas issued this year has been drastically reduced due to increased vetting by the Trump Administration. Refugee re-settlement agencies, churches, and others are talking to members of Congress in hopes of increasing these visas in the new fiscal year which begins on October 1.

The planning committee hosted a dinner and panel discussion on  Saturday, September 8 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church.

For more information, please contact Nadia Fitzcharles nadia@sharingpeace.org, Carol Weber caroljeanweber@hotmail.com or Amy Meli melia@lssnca.org
Volunteer News

ACCA representatives participated in the Venture into Volunteering Fair on September 13 at United Baptist Church in Annandale.  This fair concentrated on those age 50+ who are interested in volunteering but not sure where to start.  We hope to see some new faces join the ranks of ACCA!
