CDC's Updated Guidance
As you may be aware, on May 13 and May 16, the CDC updated their guidance for vaccinated individuals where “fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.” To date, the CDC’s guidelines for community-based organizations remain in place.

On May 13, 2021, the Department of Health announced that the commonwealth’s mask order reflects this latest CDC guidance. Governor Wolf continues to report that the mask mandate in Pennsylvania will not be lifted until 70% of eligible persons are vaccinated.

Please remember that many congregations include vulnerable people who have not been vaccinated for any number of reasons, including children. As we gather as one in the body of Christ among those who may be unvaccinated, we recommend masking in solidarity. For the safety of all, and to avoid stigmatization, we continue to recommend that all wear masks, households remain six feet apart, and congregational singing be avoided indoors.

Thank you for your continued diligence in caring for the most vulnerable.
