Message from the CBDCE Chair

Melanie Batchelor, MHS, RD, LDN, CDCES®

2024 CBDCE Chair

Dear CDCES Community,

Spring is a time of flourishing development, and we at CBDCE are embracing the season. I'm honored to lead the CBDCE Board of Directors as we spring into our new year. Our talented and committed board members are excited to begin work on revising our strategic plan.

The plan focuses on growing our certificants by exploring new opportunities for additional credentialing options and partnerships and increasing our visibility and value within the diabetes community. I'm thrilled that our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access continues and is woven into all priority areas of the strategic plan. CBDCE also continues to develop strategies to adapt to changing landscapes within our community.

Over the past few months, staff have worked tirelessly to implement a new platform for accepting applications internally. This new platform is now live. Please join me in expressing gratitude to our staff members. Thank you! This new platform will make the implementation of our strategic plan more seamless and efficient. More information will be coming to you soon on this platform, including how your interface with CBDCE will improve for CDCES credential renewals, etc.

I want to thank each of you for your efforts and commitment to the diabetes community. Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments. I value your input, as does the entire board of directors. With excitement and a growth mindset, I look forward to flourishing with you!

Respectfully,

Melanie Batchelor, MHS, RD, LDN, CDCES®

Get Listed in the CDCES Directory

The Locate a CDCES Directory is a great tool for people with diabetes and providers to locate you. The directory allows you to promote yourself as a CDCES and the valuable care and education you provide. Be sure you are listed in the directory to increase your visibility. It's easy to set-up. Take a look at the public Locate a CDCES Directory page on the CBDCE website. Sign in to your CBDCE Portal and choose the CDCES Directory. Be sure to make the listing visible before you save it. If you are already listed in the directory, please log in and check that it is current.

Important Announcements

Upcoming changes in CE requirements for CDCES renewals. To further promote quality diabetes care and education and engage in ongoing professional development, the CBDCE Board changed the requirements for renewal of the CDCES by continuing education (CE). These changes will apply to CDCESs renewing their credential in 2025 and later. Learn more: www.cbdce.org/ce-renewal-changes

The CDCES Exam Content Outline (ECO) will change effective July 1, 2024. The ECO helps candidates identify potential knowledge gaps on the exam. A practice analysis was completed in 2023, and as a result, the ECO was modified. The current and July 1, 2024 ECO are in the Examination Handbook.

CBDCE encourages all CDCESs to use the current CDCES logo. We'd like you to use the logo as long as your certification remains valid. Use CDCES behind your name on your email signature, business cards, and social media profiles, and include the CDCES logo in promotional materials. You can learn more about the usage/rules.
