New MGH Patient Code of Conduct Policy
Earlier this Spring, the MGH Medical Policy Committee approved a new MGH code of conduct policy to address all types of discriminatory, disrespectful, and threatening behaviors by patients, families, visitors and research participants in our hospital campuses. This is a first of its kind policy and in line with initiative 1 of the Structural Equity 10-Point Plan and the Mass General Brigham United Against Racism campaign.

It applies to all clinical, non-clinical and research areas of the MGH/MGPO. An implementation team has been formed to ensure the entire hospital community is aware of the new policy and how to properly implement it. More details will follow soon.

We are grateful to the Center for Diversity & Inclusion's Executive Director Elena Olson and to the co-Chair of the Clinical Policy and Record Committee and the Maxwell & Eleanor Blum Patient and Family Learning Center Brian French, for co-leading the development and implementation of this policy.

ECOR Is Seeking Reviewers
The Executive Committee On Research (ECOR) handles a large number of internal funding opportunities that require a peer review process. This review process is handled through the Subcommittee on Review of Research Proposals (SRRP). SRRP reviewers provide an essential service to the Mass General Research Community. The SRRP committee reviews most grant applications submitted to ECOR throughout the year for internal research funding opportunities such as FMD Fellowships, Interim Support Funding (ISF), and preliminary reviews for external single institution nominee calls, such as the Pew Scholars and NIH Director’s Early Independence Award.

The intent of this call is to expand the review committee while ensuring that the full range of diversity within the research community is represented. Previous recipients of ECOR funding, including interim funding, and mentors of FMD recipients are especially encouraged to join the SRRP as reviewers.

To learn more about applying for the SRRP, please click here. ECOR would greatly appreciate your participation. Having a large and diversified reviewer pool is critical to the success of the process.

ALPHA's 50 Most Powerful Latinas Nomination is Open!
Deadline August 31
In the last 18 months, Latinas have disproportionately faced negative economic and health impact from Covid 19. ALPFA's 2021 Most Powerful Latinas List aims to highlight the stories of Latinas who are changing the narrative and creating positive impact: in businesses, in their communities, and in their families. While many of the Latinas who make this year's list may have impressive roles within corporate America, it is the inspiring stories of how these women are leading, supporting, and managing their businesses, teams, and relationships to impact lives and communities during this time that will determine who is ultimately named to this year's list. Click here to read more.

Nominations will be accepted until August 31, so don’t delay! For any questions, please feel free to send an email to ann.l.marquez@national.alpfa.org and write in the subject: MPL Question.
