With the summer holidays now in full swing, so too is our planning cycle for the 2016-17 session. We have also been reviewing and updating our online learning materials, ready for the new session. You'll find more information about that below. Over the next few months we will be running a number of exciting major events and we will keep you informed of what's coming up. One of the highlights in the calendar is the CDN Annual Awards, which this year takes place on 22 November at Radisson Blu, Glasgow. Please put the date in your diary!

Corporate Parenting
CDN will be running a follow up to the popular Corporate Parenting events which took place last session. 'Corporate Parenting - the next step' takes place on Wednesday 28 September at CDN's offices in Stirling. A corporate parenting plan describes the actions taken by a college to meet its statutory duty under Part 9 of the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014. Every looked after child, and every care leaver who was looked after at their 16th birthday, is entitled to corporate parenting support until their 26th birthday. Some colleges are choosing to broaden this definition to include all students of any age who are care experienced. This event is aimed at senior and middle managers in colleges who have responsibility for creating a corporate parenting plan.
Teaching in Colleges Today - online course update

The purpose of the online course Teaching in Colleges Today (TICT) is to provide new and existing lecturers with the knowledge and understanding of their role and responsibilities, and the skills they will need to be an effective college lecturer. The course enables learners to demonstrate an understanding of managing the learning environment, the learning progress and a commitment to professional development. Aspects of the course have been levelled at SCQF Level 7, with 3 Credit points.
