Board National Induction Programme

On behalf of the sector, CDN provides the National Induction Programme to support board members in their role. The Programme is designed to reflect the requirements of the Code of Good Governance and to complement the induction offered by individual colleges and strategic bodies. The Good Governance Steering Group has made clear that National Induction will now be a compulsory part of being a board member in the college sector in Scotland. A total of 200 board members have now either attended or have signed up for future workshops.
CDN Marketing Awards 2016 celebrate excellence

CDN celebrated the outstanding work taking place in the marketing departments of Scotland's colleges at CDN's Marketing Awards on 3 March 2016. The Awards are one of the activities delivered by CDN's Marketing and Communications Network. This year the awards featured 11 categories, along with an overall Grand Prix Award which went to West College Scotland.

Contribution to SFC Gender Action Plan

The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) recently published an interim report on its Gender Action Plan. CDN met with the SFC in advance of the report to contribute to its progress. The plan has a very strong link to access and equality but also to skills. CDN has been invited to attend a research dissemination workshop in June as key participants in discussion around the research. In the coming weeks we will be meeting further with SFC colleagues to discuss the Gender Action Plan in greater detail and the pivotal role which CDN has in its implementation.

Launch of CDN's Digital Development Room

On 29 February 2016 CDN celebrated the grand opening of the Digital Development Room at CDN's office in Stirling. The room is fully equipped with new technology, enabling filming, virtual meetings and webinars. This facility is also available for hire and our team is able to support a variety of requirements.
